Description
When pure, Aragonite is white or colourless, but it is often found in soft shades of red, yellow, orange and brown, and can also be green or blue. It is a transluscent to transparent crystal, with a hardness rating of 3.5 – 4 on the Moh’s scale, meaning it it a relatively soft crystal.
About
Aragonite is found in Spain, Slovakia, Mexico, Morocco and the USA, as well as appearing in great deposits on the seabed in the Bahamas. It forms naturally in almost all mollusk shells, and in the endoskeleton of corals, as well as occurring as an inorganic precipitate in oceans and caves. Aragonite is unstable under normal pressure and temperature, and over a long time period will change into calcite.
Health
Aragonite is recommended when combating chronic fatigue or stress, and related problems. It is said to be useful for reducing imflammation, soothing fevers and calming the nervous system. Aragonite is also good for curing hair loss.
Magic
As well as soothing physical symptoms, Aragonite is beneficial for calming emotions. It can be used when grounding, when meditating for a sense of deep peace, or in daily life to combat restlessness or nerves. Aragonite is helpful when you need a calm and clear head, and can assist you in perseverance, patience and self-discipline. Aragonite also helps people who are dealing with feelings of low confidence or self-worth.
Due to the way Aragonite forms, with projections growing out from the core, it can remind you of your own life and experiences. Your core being remains in the centre, with the knowledge you’ve gained adding to it and helping you grow spiritually and emotionally as well as physically.
